This has appeared on my back/neck. It is extremely swollen and I am in so much pain. Any idea on what to do? What caused this? Anything? I've been soaking in a super hot bath all day because I am in so much pain. The mirror picture is from last night and the other is from today.

Do you normally have good posture? I would see a chiropractor

My sister had something like that on the back of her neck too. Turned out to be a cyst.

I'm assuming you're talking about the knot looking part. If not, my apologies and sorry if I offended

It's not a posture thing. I know what you mean though. This has gradually swollen up over the last couple of days.

3 moms liked this

DOCTOR.   Immediately.   If not sooner.

Why?

It's gigantic, it's right over your spine, it swelled up THAT MUCH in a few DAYS, and it hurts.

That's why.

Could possibly be cellulitis. You should go see your Dr. so that he/she can order the appropriate labwork and physically examine it. Have you been running a fever with this?

It is really hard to assess it from here, but I think an appointment with your regular doctor would benefit you.

Are you having any other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, radiating pain, numbness, etc?  Keep track of things like this and report them to your doctor when you go.

Yeah, you need to see a doctor asap. That is not normal
