I shouldn't have done that

I made a mistake. I have Tachycardia. I take metoprolol for it. Normally I don't drink caffeine, but today I had finals and a shit load of other stuff to do and I was running on 4 hours of sleep. I had 3 cups of coffee, and a butt load of diet Mountain Dew (huge thing from Taco John's, two glasses at dinner, and another one tonight).

I feel like crap. If I didn't already have tachycardia, I wouldn't be concerned. I'm nauseous and my chest feels tight. My HR is 100, which is probably only controlled because of the medicine I'm on. I feel so out of it. I'm kind of scared and wondering if I should be seen. If I go in, it'll have to be the ER. We don't have urgent care. I live in a tiny town where the ER won't be busy.

Go the ER. 100 isn't high, but that can always change.

Really? I don't want them to be annoyed with me. The last time I went for palpitations they asked what I thought they should do so I'm hesitant to go.

They asked you what they should do?

I'd still go and get hooked up to a heart monitor.

I would feel like that even without tachycardia. That's a lot of caffeine.

Listen to your gut. Go in if you are nervous. At the very least, keep monitoring your HR and see if it drops.

Yep. They're not very good. They missed a fractured elbow, and 3 dry sockets post wisdom teeth removal too.

Go to the ER.

And next time, try not to overdo it. Sleep and healthy foods are better for you anyway.

Yeah, that leaves something to be desired for sure...
