So my mother is getting married I am turning 31 she never married my dad they broke up when I was just over one..so this will be a "first wedding" for her.

Now she hasn't asked me but if she does how do I nicely say HELL NO...

I can not afford to be one

We are not that close (she abandoned me many  times in my life. Taking off first when I was 2 and then other times)

Yes I have forgiven her for that and we are working on our realtionship. but we will never be close.

So how do I nicely tell her (if she asks) NO!

Just tell her you have prior commitments and engagements that won't allow you the needed time or dedication to be her MOH and she deserves someone who can take on the responsibility.

if you're not close why would you assume she's going to ask you?

You say thank you for thinking of me but I can't afford it and don't have the time.

Sounds like you haven't really forgiven her.

If its really money then day so "I can't afford it." Prettysimple.

But since it sounds like it's much more than that, IDK.
