17 month old - curbing bad behavior

My 17 month old son keeps getting into the dogs food and water bowl. This has always been a no ever since he could get around on his own . But lately he has a habit of going rate for the food and water bowl every couple of minutes.

I use the "correct redirect" and then temp to distract him with a toy that's appropriate to play with. as of late he has been doing this behavior and laughing at me when I say no. Plus he repeats it regularly throughout the day no amount of correcting and redirecting seems to be changing the behavior it only seems to get worse.

i'm looking for ideas ladies.

A 17 month old does not remember what you told him yesterday. Put it away.

You're just going to have to keep saying NO and redirecting him. Toddlers need to hear something about a gazillion times before it sticks.

You have a couple more years of this type of fun.

It gets harder. Find different methods of discipline.

I can't the dog needs to eat and have access to water. We live in the desert and it's getting hot these days so outside is no good either.

That's what I was afraid of. He's a spunky little man too. Can't blame a mom for Hoping lol
