Or something along those lines?

I was kind of surprised when an acquaintance said that in her culture that is what is expected. Its not even a term of endearment, its just what you do.

So who does this?
Is it a cultural thing or is it your choice?

My choice. Both my parents are gone. I'm happy to have someone to call mom and dad again.

Absolutely not. My parents are my only mom and dad.

I call them by their first names.

My FIL has passed but I did. I do still call my MIL mom. My husband and I have been best friends since we were 11 years old. She has long been my second mother.

No, my FIL is distant from his own kids, won't give them his phone # or address. Of course I'm no different. My MIL is not living.

No. And now that we have kids, I refer to them as Grandma and Grandpa. I have to remind my husband that he is "daddy" Some time he will walk in and be like hello babies,Steve is home! I'm like---- daddy, daddy is home. Hahah. The babies are gonna call him Steve when they start talking

On the rare occasions that I am forced to speak to the bitch I call her by her name and she better be grateful that's all I call her. (We have issues, in case your couldn't tell.)
