Moms with pacifier babies..past or present.

My baby will be 1 on Monday. He's been my only kiddo to use one. He's pretty addicted. How do I wean? I don't like the cold turkey method but will use it if other things don't work.
Ideas?

I wish I could help, but none of mine liked pacifiers.

Here's a bump though.

I just took them away, threw them in the trash, and that was that. They learned to live without them.

A babies natural 'need' to suck on something to sooth themselves stops after the first few months. After that, it usually becomes habit for both child and parent to reach for it whenever they are fussy.

in our house, the binky fairy came and took the binkies for new babies.  she left a gift in return.  no drama, and it was never asked for again by either of my younger two.  the oldest as a thumbsucker.

Reduce it to only in bed, then whenever they are good with that rule either cut a small hole in the bottom of all of them or have them gradually start disappearing (we kept multiple in her bed at all times). However I just went from just in bed to none and she never missed it. She never got super addicted though

My DD just put hers down @ 3 years. I took it away except for sleeping when she turned 2, it was so easy with her.

DS lost his and wouldn't take the one from the hospital. He was weaned in a day. He quit them himself.
I'd say the cutting holes in them wouldn't hurt.

I started saying not right now, the same way I weaned them off of breast and bottles.
It was a slow process but it was less dramatic.

DS had a binkie way longer than CM approves of.
