why do anorexic and bulimic people get so much sympathy but not people who have a food addiction?

Same concept. Both are extremely hard to control. I don't get it.

both are preventable in my opinion just like drug addicts. While I do sympathize with those around them the burden and hurt they put their friends and family through, they chose to become addicted....

Because people believe those who are fat or gorge on food just have no self-control, are lazy, etc. It is more socially acceptable to be thin even with an eating disorder :/

You can lose the weight and get healthy. Its not so easy for them to eat healthy foods.

Skinny people apparently deserve pity while fat people don't. The world is messed up.

It's not so easy for a food addict to just stop ether.

Because people have no idea what addiction is. You wouldn't tell a drug addict to just say no. You tell them to get help.

But mostly people just don't care.

No clue. People need the understand how awful it is to be addicted to something easily accessible and something you need to survive.

I agree with you. I don't get it either. Both need help and understanding.
