Agree. I have one for my second child and it's a great affordable seat.

Your fire station can give you almost free car seats. Just ask about them. Where I live they ask for at least twenty dollar's for each one at the fire station.

Find a Safe Kids carseat tech near you. You can find one on their website and they can direct you to low cost options in your area.

The WIC office here will sell you one according to your income. Sometimes free.

While I personally wouldn't put my child in one of those seats--- It beats the alternative of getting a used (and unsafe seat) or no seat at all.

They meet federal guidelines, just make sure they are installed correctly. You could get one for 35 dollars at Walmart.

Buying a used car seat is dangerous. She will have no idea what the history of the car seat is (if it's been in a car accident, if the straps have been submerged in water).

A church might be able to help, but I would avoid Craigslist and I don't think the Goodwill would sell used carseats.
