Does this look strange?

At my old house I had dark hardwood floors and bought this area rug to warm it up a bit. Our new house is mostly carpeted, though, so the rug has been in my basement for two years. I pulled it out to with the thought of putting it up in the nursery, but ended up leaving it down in the living room.

I kind of like it here (it breaks up the brown, for one thing!) I'm trying to decide if it's just weird to put an area rug over carpeting? Is that a thing that people do, or will anyone who comes in think I'm just a weirdo?

I don't like rugs on rugs. Makes no sense to me. Nice rug though.

I like it!! And I've had area rugs on carpets before. Completely normal.

we've put decorative rugs in large rooms with plain carpeting. I thinkit's fine.

It is common here to put area rugs over carpet. It adds interest and protects the carpet.

Lots of people have rugs on carpet. They're decorative.

I like it. It looks quaint and country chic. It protects the high traffic area of the room. A small table would be cute as well or I like the open feel too.
