Tuesday I moved 250 miles from home. My son and husband stayed. I'm attending graduate school for my PhD in microbiology. It's been a tough week but the program is AMAZING and will allow wonderful opportunities for our family. I'm back home for the weekend but have to go back Sunday. I also need like...everything for my apartment. Wish me luck. This is going to be good.

Update: Things are going well. I'm SLOWLY getting settled in. I've gotten such simple things as a shower curtain, trash can, towels, food, etc. The trip home on the weekends isn't too bad. It's a nice easy drive, and a good time to reflect, and talk to God. My class is going well. I've turned in one HW assignment but got a 100%. I have more coming due. I'll get internet in a few days. It's going well. Obviously I WANT to be home, but for what it is, it's ok.

That's awesome! YOU can do it!
Garage sales and thrift stores will be your friend setting up the apartment on the cheap.
Good luck!

Don't. This is HARD (just the separation). It is exciting though, and I'm thrilled to be pursuing this.

I'm sure the separation will be difficult. But the excitement!!

Sigh.

It is. I have a few labs I'm interested in, and one PI who has made it clear that he's VERY flexible in terms of time off/vacation. I'll obviously have to be VERY mindful in choosing a mentor and be sure they'll be sensitive to my situation.
