Just saw a story on the news--

Boy is 19 and meets a girl on a social media app where she lists her age as 17.  They meet, have what he thinks is consensual sex, they go their separate ways.

Her parents find out and have him arrested since it turns out she is only 14. She testifies on his behalf that yes, she listed her age as 17 and told him she was 17 which is the age of cosent where they live. (I didn't hear the state inthe story.)  He was convicted and will be a registered sex offender until 2040.

What do you think?

So stupid. Where is the punishment for these girls who clearly lie, to deter that from happening?

And the mom whose son asked his date for ID got bashed.

I think it's ridiculous as do even her parents.

I think it's bull. The sex offender laws need to be changed when it comes to things of this nature. That's just my opinion.

That it's wrong he's the only one being legally punished. The girl was more at fault for lying in the first place, what are her lifetime consequences??
