...what is the reason? Neglect? Hard times ? Lack of financial education?

I'm just curious what the most common reasons might be.

I had poor credit due to being a crazy 18 year old. Made great (to me at the time) money and got a slew of credit cards. Then quit that job and kept spendibg. Oops.

We ended up w/ poor credit a while back b/c of extremely hard times.  Totally sucks when you're doing everything right and the rug gets pulled out from under your feet.

This, a mistake with a credit card at 20, and medical bills.

No financial education and poor decisions as a result of listening to my mil when I was 18. Shes one of the people that would get credit card after credit card and multiple loans just because she could.

I switched jobs that I thought I would be making more money, it was suppose to be base pay plus commission. They lied and it was only commission and only what he thought you should make. I would work 12 hr days 6 days a week and only make $50 for the week. I had to give my car back and rapped up credit cards. Of course I quit but was hard to find something that made decent money. I did get a lot, not all paid off and then hit hardship again. I recently bought a cat and that should boost up my credit but the payments are high
