Just a friendly visit from the FBI

The FBI showed up at my house yesterday.

On Monday, someone on 4chan made a post mimicking almost word for word the post the Oregon shooter made before the shooting only replaced Austin as the area. On 4chan, a bunch of people reposted that post in something they are calling a "beta uprising". I have no idea what that is.

Well, my son was one of the stupid people that reposted it. Even though he was anonymous, the FBI figured out who he was. Hey, they are the FBI. The followed up on each and every repost to make sure it wasn't a valid threat and that people were safe. That's understandable. I was so scared, heartbroken, and pissed off that my son would do such a thing.

The investigators determined that he actually didn't know it was a copycat post of the Oregon shooter. He thought he was a part of some group collective standing up for freedom of speech. Dummy. I just don't understand it. He was so scared and I'm glad. He should be.

So far, he only got suspended 3 days from school and they released him to me under the certain conditions including establishing visits with a probation officer. He got off easy, but he seems to understand how serious this was.

The FBI guys were really nice. They aren't going to follow up on him since he's a minor. They are letting the state handle it. They said that they are more dedicated to helping families in negative circumstances than local police would be. They said I can call them if I think my son or family is having some struggle that would lead to negative behaviors and they would gather resources.

He isn't a troubled kid. He isn't a troublemaker at all. He's just really stupid and impulsive sometimes.

Seriously there should be a 'kids Internet' and an 'adult Internet'

You get your PIN to get access to adult Internet when you turn 21.

Or maybe 18.

All kids do stupid stuff but that's a doozy. You have to be careful what you spread around.

If he were my kid, I'd be deactivating all of his social media accounts pronto and he'd be grounded from computer use unless it was for school work.  And then, it would be supervised and I'd be installing a keystroke ap to monitor his use as well as taking a look at his browsing history.

Your kid shouldn't be on 4chan.  That site is all porn, gore, and other fucked up shit.  You need to really pay attention to what sites your kid visits.

And hes lying.  He knew what he was posting.

I read that thread on 4chan...you need to get your kid some help if he was one of those people egging on the shooter.

ETA-I thought you mean the orginal thread made by the shooter..never mind.
