Is this wrong?

My daughter is in second grade.  We live in Texas and they grade all homework.  She did her math page today and it had a big fat ZERO because she did not circle her answers, although I checked and all the answers were right.  SIGH.

Was she advised to circle her answers?

Unless she has a record of not following directions. I'd wonder why the teacher didn't just grade it and write a note to remind her to follow directions.

On one hand that's crap.

On the other hanf, if the child knew that was the rule, then oh well.

Yep. My son forgot to write his last name. She took 30 points off for it. Like, what the fuck?!

My students lose points for not writing their names on papers. Once when I was in school we had a whole assignment about following directions. Most kids failed it as the first direction was read all directions (20 or so) before starting the work. The last direction was "do nothing and turn in this empty sheet of paper." LOL
