$1100 on holiday presents for one child?

I'm discussing it with my coworker and she said she has one child and spent $1100 last year. I have one as well and paid around $250 last year. I know it probably depends on the ages of the kids but was curious how much people truly splurge on their kids

I have one ds. He's 10. This year I think I'm spending around $600 or $700 on him.

I can't think of anything my four year old would want for that much but for a teenager that's one laptop so that could easily be spent.

Last year $100 each. This year we can't afford anything due to some emergency situations, so we're pushing it back a month or two.

I won't know until he's older. He's too young to go crazy on now, but we're not big budgeters in my house. We also won't spoil our kids throughout the year but will probably go a little nuts for birthdays and Christmases.

I spent about $500 on DS4 last year. Probably about the same this year.

11000? Did she buy her kid a car?

My parents probably spent that much or more on me and my sister for Christmas. One year I got some gorgeous diamond earrings and a stereo. Another year I got my horse. But we rarely got extras throughout the year.

Does depend on age. A 15 yr old that's not that extravagant is a game system, few games, and maybe an extra control. A 5 yr that would be a shit ton of toys.

We spend under $200/kid, so under $600 total. But mine are still relatively young, and we buy them things through out the year.
