I need help not being a nazi

Today was the office Halloween potluck "party". Really more like a roadkill lunch.

Everyone was left to use their own poor judgement. One girl said she would bring nachos. What did she bring? Two bags of tortilla chips. No cheese. No toppings. Just chips. The cutlery person brought forks but no spoons. Etc.

I'm taking over our Thanksgiving lunch. I just need help not being a nazi. Tell me if this is too much:

(EDITED)
>Stating Please try to bring enough for __ persons, but spend no more than $10.
>Printing a menu with blanks for people to write their names in
>The menu would be specific but open (like "Pie" could be any flavor)
>Each menu option would come with a description, like for cutlery it would be spoons forks napkins plates.
>On the sign up menu, the option to give me $10 and not have to worry about bringing anything

Is this too anal?

Sounds wonderful, like a PTA planner. Or a classroom parent.

Actually I kinda like it. Yes it's a bit anal but if anyone has been to a pot luck or something similar they will totally sympathize!

When it comes to taking over the planning of an office party, sometimes you do have to be anal in order to pull it off properly, or it all goes to hell, kinda like the last party did.  You have absolutely the right idea with your party.
