What does she want me to say? Edit

So I helped a family member get a car when her husband left her for another woman. She pays the payment but the car is in my name. So she got back with him after the first of the year. Now the car has broken down and they think it's the alternator. She was telling me how much it would cost. She hasn't paid me this month's payment yet. I've already paid the lender. The insurance payment will be coming up next week. I just bought the tags for it.

I think she wants me to tell her to wait on everything since they have to get an alternator. If she was paying the lender directly she would already be late.

What would you do?

Eta: Well she just texted me and said she would come to my work tomorrow and pay me. So false alarm I guess. That's just be 12 days late.

Transfer the title to her name and let her deal with it.

I would tell her the bills are still due.

Tell her to have the alternator rebuilt, costs around 40 bucks

Either take the car back or tell her she has one week to get the remainder of the loan in her name.

She'd have these problems if the car were in her name like most adults. The difference is that not making the payments is only going to impact you either by you having to pay for it or letting it destroy your credit instead of hers.

You're screwed.

Do you have it in writing anywhere that she is supposed to pay X per month?

I would go take possession of the car since its in my name.   Then sell it to pay off the loan

If the car is in your name tell her if she can't afford it you will take it back.
