46, and pregnant for the first time...mixed feelings

My husband and I have been married for 21 years. The first 10 years, we spent doing infirtility, with no results. We have 2 adopted children, who are 10 1/2 and 7. (We have had both children since birth) We just found out that I was 3 months pregnant. I go through moments of being thrilled, to being very upset! I want to have as many test done as we can, so we can know before birth if there is anything wrong with the baby. My husband doesn't see the point....that we should "take what God gives us". I find this ludicrous! We need to be prepared, if something is wrong...like Down Syndrome. I'm not one that would abort, but I just want to know...to prepare myself. Is that wrong? Should I go against my husband and have the test done anyway? WWYD?

We did the NT scan and blood work so we could be prepared not bc we would ever abort. I don't see anything wrong with it... Congrats!

What are the risks of the test? What if it causes a miscarriage. My son has autism and there is no test for that. Whatever your child's challenges, you will adjust your life accordingly. It isn't always easy, but life doesn't come with guarantees. :)

As long as there aren't major risks with the testing. I would. I think being prepared is a great way to go. Considering your age. Good luck!
