Moms with children on Ritalin

The neuro suggests I start tomorrow, but I forgot to get the note for school nurse that stats what kind of medication and what not with their signature but I have other forms like that the school nurse may consider specially since he's already on adderall were just stopping that and starting rittalin for certain reasons.

But I'm not sure if I should start the Ritalin tomorrow knowing that he may not be able to continue it in school on Monday. He has to take 2.5 in the morning and 2.5 at lunch, right now I'm not even sure how I'm going to apropiately cut his pills.
He has to take the second Ritalin pill at 11:30 and his neuro is so far away that it will take me after dropping ds off at school until 1pm to get back with the note and that's if she gets my voicemail and email before Monday morning. So should I skip Sunday until I know the nurse will give it to him Monday afternoon? I wish I could just give him the 5mg in the morning, specially since I'm nervous about cutting such a tiny pill in half.

What would you do?

If it were me... I'd just keep him home on Monday so you can get it sorted out.

Get a pill cutter, give him meds as prescribed. If the school won't give him his meds monday, you stop in at the time he needs to take it and give it to him.

See if the doctor's office can fax the note to the nurse. If not, go to the school and give him the pill yourself.

Go to the pharmacy and buy a pill cutter.

Get a second opinion. Some doctors recommend splitting them but if you ask a specialist they will tell you there is no benefit.

If you don't have the paper on time.  Go to the school and administer the dose yourself.  You may have to take him to your car.  Basically just be discrete.

I was able to get that dose in 2.5 mg pills that are chewable so I don't have to cut them. The pharmacy had to order them but I would double check and see if they can get them.

To bad my son doesn't "act like a zombie" while on his adderall, and I'm sure Ritalin won't make him either.
Also my son has been to his neuro since he was 18 months old, I didn't just take him to the doctor to get drugged we did a bunch of therapy for many years before resorting to medication.

Can you just have the Dr office fax the school nurse a note?
