so Im planning a tropical vacation for dh and . I have the cost of our flight and hotel figured out but im looking for a rough estimation of what we are looking at spending on other stuff like food, pool side drinks, etc.

I know this will vary quite a bit but if you've gone can you tell me what your experience was in that aspect. Anythings you had to spend money on that you didnt think about when planning?

Thanks!

Otherwise- Taxes, activities like snorkeling/scuba that aren't included, meals/gum/drinks at airport, taxi service to resort, ect

Find something all inclusive.

Or take a cruise. They are semi-inclusive (food is included, alcohol or soda are not), and cost much less than staying at a resort.

Don't forget to get a passport way in advance. Those are 100+ each

A cruise is the way to go. All the food is included, if you go on a carnival cruise line ship you can get drink cards for 50.00 each and I think there us like a 15 or 20 drink limit a day. But you do not have to have a passport. It's recommended in case of an emergency you can book a flight from one of the ports you stop at.

I don't know when they traveled last but even on cruises you MUST have a passport now, because they go into "international waters" my grandson just was married and they needed one, even if they did not get off the ship. Which soneone told the kids. To get on and off ( at hone port)You HAVE TO HAVE ONE. They take about 3 weeks.

Go all inclusive ,best deal for the money, unlimited drink and FOOD, Tips etc all are included. The only thing extra are gifts you can buy.
The "Dominic republic" breathtaking it was the best all inclusive we ever took and went three times now. And we've travel quite a bit. A fabulous trip each time and extremely reasonable with flights included, all Inclusive about 800 plus, each person and up depending on how long. Plus we could eat at 12 different restaurants, besides where we stayed. The beaches, they come down and wait on you hand and foot!!

I've done all-inclusives and cruises and I prefer the AIs
If you haven't already booked then look into those - flights and airport transfers included- all food and drinks and the resorts are generally full of activity
My kids loved them too started as babies- the last time as teens they were bored- too old for kids club and too young to do adult stuff like casino so we did a lot more excursions- zip lining, ATVs, ruins etc and spent a lot more
You also need money for tips- even though tips are included a few dollars gets you better service

Outside excursions, shopping, spa treatments, couples massage all add up too plus paying for anything you forget or lose - sunglasses, sunscreen etc

If you need a dr you have to pay - many resorts have one available

Depending how long you're going I'd budget $500 to $750 pp
Enjoy

It depends on the resort you are staying at. We've stayed at places that are $200 a day for food and drinks, and we've staged at places that can be as much as $400 a day. We prefer all inclusive, because it's so much more convenient.
