1 mom liked this

Put him in his bed and leave him there, if he gets out put him back and dish out a punishment, like no tv, or electronics, playdates etc...if it continues go harsher on the punishment.

You tell him no, tell him he will be sleeping in his room, and discipline him if he doesn't listen. At six, he is old enough to follow instructions.

Have you taken something away for a day like tv? Maybe it will help.

Get him a really cool bed. Then tell him he can only sleep with you 6 days a week. Keep cutting down the days.

Transition slowly. We first had him move to the foot of the bed, then a pallet in the floor, then the hall on a pallet, then the couch, then his floor, then his bed. May seem weird but it worked. Each transition we gave a few weeks.

I transitioned my kids to their own beds by tucking them in their own beds at night and laying w/ them until they fell asleep.

It also helps to let them pick out their own bedding. And make sure the sheets are comfortable enough that you wouldn't mind sleeping on them. Scratchy sheets suck.

It took a while to get them used to it, but now they have no problem. I still tuck them in at night. : )
