You didn't marry a real man if you have to work....

That's what an idiot commented on my post (what do you do for a living) Anon 61. I told her that she must be a REAL gold digger. I can't believe we still live in a world where people think it's silly for women to work and make a living as well. What happens in the event DH dies or leaves? You just live off child support? I didn't go to college to sit at home all day. I've tried the SAHM thing....not my thing. It may work or some....it doesn't work for me.

strange comment to make. My hubby makes the money (builder) while I work to bring home cheaper health insurance.

I debated on staying home or working. I took some time off in between quitting my job and going back to college. It was nice to be off in the summer. But I also like having more of a savings for the family and to be able to buy my own stuff without feeling guilty.

We were the same way...and when my DH got cancer, I was damned grateful that I had my job and good insurance for our family!

Some people are just ignorant.

I think it has some truth to it.

If you HAVE to work because he isn't willing or able to provide, he is failing as a provider.

If you want to work, that's a totally different animal.

That is actually a very good setup. I'm sure it works well for you all.

I think it's stupid that anyone comments on what works in someone else's household either way. If both parents working is good for your family great, if it's not great.
