I know everyone is excited about Easter.
I'd like to share some traditions about the other holiday his week- Purim! It's a Jewish holiday that celebrates the victory over those who tried to destroy... It's a victory over hatred and violence.

Some fun traditions
- read the book of ester out loud...and make a lot of noise whenever the Villain is mentioned..we try to drown out his name

- dress up in costumes....so we can't tell apart our friends from our foes

- give gifts of food...fruit and nuts usually

- remember the poor and give to them

- get drunk! Drunk to the point you can't
distinguish your friends from your enemies

- small fast the day before (sunset to sunset) - Jews are commanded to fast when the nation is in peril. It's a way To repent and ask for mercy

I hope you leaned something new :-)

Cheers!

The drinking is a custom, certainly not required.
The only things we must Absolutely do is read the story, give food, remember the poor, and be festive and happy (you're not suppose to be sad on this holiday) :-)
