So I'm watching this commercial for a local mattress store and in the commercial the customer woman (smh, of course it's a woman right?) says that she's there because she has bad credit but she REALLY needs a mattress.

And I'm just sitting here like, wait, you need good credit to buy a mattress?

WHAT does your credit have to do with buying a mattress????

Are you slow?

People finance them. So yes you would need good credit.

It's likely for the mattresses that cost several thousand dollars and they finance.

Uh, credit is about your ability to pay. It doesn't matter what the item is.

Have you not been mattress shopping lately?  A good mattress costs in the thousands.  Not everyone has a thousand dollars or more lying around to spend on whatever.  Ergo, the need for financing.  Yes, you can buy a cheap mattress for a few hundred bucks, but when it comes to mattresses, you get what you pay for.

It depends on what type of mattress she wants. If it has to do with your ability to pay, of course she would need good credit.

If you are wanting to make payments, yes.

Our mattress cost over $2500. We financed it.

Well. If someone doesn't have the money to purchase something outright then financing is their next option. And yes. to finance you need good credit. How do you not understand this?

They must be selling higher end mattresses and providing financing.

Our current mattress set was $4k and they provided financing, although we just bought ours.
