I'm sick of them calling her a liar!! (possible trigger)

My daughter (almost 12) came to me in January and revealed that my father had been molesting her. I obviously reported it immediately and cooperated fully, as did my daughter. My father was arrested at the end of January and initially charged with 1 count of LEWD LASCV BEHAVIOR: MOLEST VIC LESS 12YOA OFFENDER 18 YOA OR OLDER and 2 counts of SEX ASSLT: BY 18 YOA OLDER SEX BATTERY VICT UNDER 12 YOA. Now he is charged with 3 counts of the first and 4 counts of the second.

Up until today it has basically been her word against his. His family (my brothers, his ex wife, his friends etc) is posting on social media, calling my job, basically telling anyone who will listen to them, that my daughter is a liar and trying to get my father in trouble for various stupid reasons. Initially I tried getting them to use common sense...He was arrested and charged then denied bail (3 bail hearings in nearly 3 months and he was denied bail every time). Common sense would indicate that the ADA feels like she has a pretty good case against him, right? No, because they apparently don't have common sense.

So today I got a call from the detective who did the investigating and she asked if she could have access to my Facebook in order to get pictures of my kids because they found thousands of thumbnails depicting child pornography on one of his hard drives. Of course I gave her access.

The problem is she said that the thumbnail (which were heavily encrypted btw) are considered circumstantial because my father's attorney could argue that my father got the computer used so the previous owner could have put those images on there. She said she's hoping she finds pictures or videos with my children because then there is proof that (at least) those images were not already there.

I can't say anything about the images yet because there is no guarantee that he'll be charged for having them but I hope to God he is. I've been able to shelter my daughter from all of the hate being circulated so far but I'm sick of having to! She is the victim of a disgusting, sorry excuse for a human being but those assholes are acting my my father is the victim. I'm so angry and just sick of it. I should be putting all of my focus on helping my daughter heal but instead I have to put focus on protecting her from all of the hate and rumors being spread around on my father's side.

I just don't know what to do anymore. It's not fair that they are saying all these things about my little girl. she did the right thing by coming to me but if she finds out about everything that's being said she's going to feel like she made a mistake.

Keep them the hell away from your child, and get her into therapy immediately.

Forensics could easily prove WHEN pictures were downloaded on the computer. So if he bought a used computer on 12/01/2015 and the pictures were downloaded on 01/02/2016, that's proof. They can also determine what date he set up any email, youtube, or anything on that computer, therefore determining he had possession of the computer at the time child pornogrophy was downloaded.

Not a very good prosecutor if they say "oh we can't prove he downloaded it". And a prosecutor wouldn't ask for access to your Facebook. They would ask you to provide pictures of your children to see if there was a match.

If your ex-relatives are calling your work, etc, then you might be able to charge them all with stalking.  You can at least get a restraining order against them all.

I'd block them on everything and make your boss and daughter's school aware of what's hapening.

Shut down all social media with you and dd. Change phone numbers. Do not check any social media. You don't need to be looking nor does she. Focus on her only.

The detective asked. Not the prosecutor

It wasn't the prosecutor who asked for access to my facebook, it was the detective. I could have sent her pictures but it's easier for her to be able to scroll through the thousands on facebook. As for the rest, I can't speak to that.

Fortunately she's been in therapy since the first week of February.

Same shit. A detective is not going to ask for access to ones Facebook. They will ask for pictures to be provided in order to identify potential victims. There are sooooo many things that can go wrong by providing access to ones Facebook who is accusing someone of such a horrific crime. Police aren't stupid and would be opening themselves up to a botch case of they do things wrong.
