School called about racist statement made by SD...

SD is 17 & a junior in HS. I received a phone call from the school saying that SD will have after school detention today. The teacher then proceeded to tell me that SD made a racist comment towards some of the students. Apparently SD got into an argument with a few Hispanic students & told them that they wont be laughing when Trump becomes president because their asses will be deported. I couldn't believe it. I don't know where she got this from. Neither my husband nor myself speak that way. SDs school is 40% black, 40% Hispanic & 20% white.

Is her mother around? Could it be something she has been hearing from her? I would definately talk to my husband about correcting that line of thought.

What had they said to her? Something super shitty had to cause that kind of response.

I don't think they necessarily had to hear it from family. A 17 year old is going to be eligible to vote in less than one year and can do their own research on candidates and their stance on things.

I don't think the kid was right in what they said, but at that age they do form their own opinions.

Seems like a lot of teenagers are jumping on the trump bandwagon and parroting everything he says because they want to feel cool.
