Am I a mom?

I have been trying for my first child for almost a year now. We got pregnant back in early March and I miscarried in mid April.

DH and my mom want to do something special for me, as they say I'm as much of as a mom as someone who has never lost a child. While his family does not agree, they say I was not a mom yet.

I don't want nor expect any gifts for Mother's Day. Nothing special, not even a "Happy Mothers Day!". This post is merely about when did or do you consider yourself a mom, "officially".

I would never tell someone who miscarried that she's not a mom. That's so cruel.

I personally wouldn't have celebrated Mother's Day had I had a miscarriage but I see no issue with the way other people celebrate anything.

I was a mom as soon as I became pregnant.

Happy Mother's Day and best wishes for the future!

no disrespect to you, but i dont consider you a mom.  but if your family wants to do something special for you in honor of your loss and efforts, i think that is a beautiful thing.

I don't think they ever meant to be mean or cruel about it, they just we're stating that they do not believe I'm a mother yet, as I never even the gender. Never held a living child.

I can see their point, however, I do consider myself a mom.

I officially was a mom...when my first child was born.

You are aspiring to be a Mom. That's a hard job in itself. You will get there.

I considered myself a Mom when I found out I was pregnant for the first time. I had to quit smoking cigarettes and it was the first time I truly did something for the baby, other than myself.
