I'm beyond confused

Is it wrong for me to be agitated by the fact that my fiance's 5 year old daughter, who is EXTREMELY intelligent and is starting kindergarten in the fall, wrote her name for the first time ever the other day (this was backed up by my fiance and her big brother)? His ex was a sahm so how did she not have time to teach their daughter to write before she is about to start school?

4 moms liked this

Recent studies show that writing is something that comes to kids at different times (much like potty training) and that many kids do not show interest until around age 5. This doesn't lessen how intelligent the child is nor does it indicate a failure on the part of her mother.

Also, if you truly believe that this was a parenting failure, why don't you put equal blame on your fiance?

It's not that big of a deal imo

I just don't understand why a sham wouldn't teach her daughter how to write is all. My mom worked full time and by kindergarten I could read, write, tie my own shoes allof which she can't do. I understand every child is different but my mom had little time to do these things aside from the weekend and she still did
