Why is it a bad thing to believe life starts at conception?

A group of women and I were talking about Pro-life vs. Pro-choice.
I said I believe life begins at conception.
A woman said "oh, not another of those women!"

Why would someone say that? Aren't we allowed to have different opinions without making fun of someone?

I don't know that it is a bad thing.It's what I believe.

I'm still pro-choice.

I suppose it is because most people that talk about life beginning at conception are very anti-choice.

Why would someone say that? To get a rise out of you, to be a bitch, because they think it's truly a silly idea... the reasons are endless and varied.

This group isn't a kind hearted, everyone agree respectfully, type of group.

Nope it doesn't fit in with their agenda and you will be accused of being intolerant of their beliefs and a bigot because only their beliefs are right.

It's not a bad thing to believe that and apply it to your own life.

The problem comes when people try to legislate that belief and apply it to everyone's lives.

If you want to get technical, life begins before conception.

It wouldn't be a bad thing if the same bunch of science denying religious fanatics that believe life begins at conception didn't also believe that they have the right to impose their beliefs on every other women's uterus in this country.

I'm prochoice.  I can care less if someone believes it life begins at conception or not.  Part of being prochoice is knowing not everyone is going to agree with you and thats ok.

It's not a bad thing until you decide your opinion makes it okay to infringe on the rights of others.
