yes, I understand it's a very very old song but really at the moving up ceremony? I think it's ridiculous. it's not respectful ..It's something to maybe sing around a campfire, no?

thoughts?

(tune: Over There)

Underwear, underwear,
How I itch in my wooly underwear.
How I wish I'd gotten
A pair of cotton
So I wouldn't itch everywhere
BVDs make me sneeze
When the breeze through the trees
Hits my knees
Over, I'm coming over,
In my gosh-darn, ding-dong
Wooly underwear.

So take care, so take care
Never let your mother
Buy your underwear
'Cause she'll be thinking
That wool's in keeping
For winter, spring and summer wear
Be prepared. Have a care!
When you wash out
Your wooly underwear
Unthinkin', if it was shrinkin'
"Cause too tight undies are
Just too much to bear

That is an odd song and I agree, not something for a ceremony.

I'm on the fence. If it's a tradition, then no big deal.

They doing skits as well?  Totally appropriate.  They're boys, they're there to have fun during the ceremony.  Otherwise they'll get bored...

Is this your first ceremony with the cubs?

No my 3rd. I totally get it's funny for the boys but for Cub Scouts being it's about respect they should do a different song, Idk. Just my opinion

They'll get more serious once they're boy scouts.  :)

I'd assume there was a reason. Maybe the den leaders made a deal...you guys behave at meetings and we'll let you sing the underwear song. Or maybe its the only song they sing with enthusiasm. Or something.

I have no problem with it as long as they weren't obnoxious during the singing of it.

I guess..but for a den always pushing Class A's and respect then singing about underwear. Idk. lol. They don't correlate.
