Meat eaters, do you really care how your animals are killed before they reach your plate?

I have a terrible confession. I don't care how they die. I don't care if they suffer, are dragged, hanged by chains..as long as the meat is tender and delicious that's all that matters to me.

Do you care how your meat is processed/slaughtered?

Killed, no.

Fed, most definitely.

I'm very careful about where we purchase our meat for consumption. I buy ours from a friend who raises beef/pork/chicken without the use of antibiotics, hormones, or other crap. They also feed without the uses of sprays and chemicls.

Most of the time I do lol. I can't say that I never eat factory produced meats, that I never eat fast food or that I care every time I sit down to a meal but most of the time I try to be conscious of how the animal was treated while alive and how it was butchered.

For example, I will not eat veal. Period. I don't like the way they are raised or butchered.

I don't usually give it so much as a passing thought.

Yes, lately since I've been more particular about what we eat and I feel bad about it. One reason I've cut out pork among other reasons and we've started eating organic meat/hormone free/etc...

I do care. I would prefer to have animals treated with kindness while they are alive and killed as swiftly and painlessly as possible. Just because animals are used as food doesn't mean we should be cruel when handling them.
