When you touch yourself, are you able to feel the strings?  If so, you should be able to pull it out yourself.  That is all they do is grab the strings and pull. 

What do you plan to do for birth control after you get it out, though?

Just ask at your next yearly exam.
Unless, you don't have insurance and that's why you can't afford it, in which case I'd suggest visiting planned parenthood.
