Do your boys do it?  How old are they?  My son is almost 13, is that too old?  What kinds of things do they do?

Not too old at all. My brothers were in it until they graduated high school.

Ok this is a dumb question but do you have to have farming experience or farm animals?  I think my son would just be interested in archery and building stuff.

It's for anyone, no experience needed. There are plenty of non animal classes.

But If you want to do the animals you lease one (chickens/ducks,pig, cow or horse from a farm, if you can't have them at home. Your soon to be 4H leader may know someone.
Or you get cavy(Guinea pig) or rabbit for your boy to show:) buy from other 4H people to find show types.
You can take multiple unrelated classes (like tractor and pig) in the same year.
