A couple weeks ago I found out my 16 year old son was smoking pot. I found about an ounce of it in his bedroom and multiple smoking tools. Needless to say I confiscated it along with all of his electronics and he is grounded. School is starting back up in a week, and he gets out at 3. I work until 7 on weekdays, so I am paying the elderly neighbor to pick him up and keep him at her house until I get home. I encouraged her to make him help her with housework and anything else she needs. He needs to learn to be productive and follow the law and I think this is a good way to teach him. I do not trust him to come home from school and stay home until 7 when I'm not there to watch him so this is the plan.

If the worse thing a 16 year does is smoke pot, count your blessings.

You're going to get a lot of flack because it's "just weed" but sorry, allowing your child to do illegal drugs is shitty parenting. Hopefully it won't take long and he'll realize he needs to knock off the idiocy.

Not yet. Not until his first day of school. He doesn't know how long he is grounded for and I think he expects to be let off when school starts.
