Farm Boy

Our DD (19) has a boyfriend who loves to farm.  He is 24 and pretty amazing.  So we are "giving" our house and 25 acres to him to do with what he wants.  Our friends and neighbors are really upset.  So are we crazy?

DD is in college and plans to stay there.

NOT transferring ownership of the property to him.  He would be living there with a stipend but have no ownership.  We may change that arrangement IF our daughter marries him.

I would put everything in DD's name and not his.

I would never give my property away to someone who wasn't my child but whatever

For just a boyfriend, yes. If they were married and you have the ability to go somewhere else whatever.

When you say give do you mean transfer ownership or just let him use it rent free? Because transfering ownership to your DD's boyfriend is pretty crazy imo.

Oh gosh, we are not giving him the property.  We are giving him a stipend and he can live on the property.  We are also giving him the ability to "work" the property so, for example, he is interested in bringing in goats and we will pay for the goats.

If they were married, sure. If not, that's a pretty generous gift.
