I don't know, my husband passed away this past April and I have gotten a bill from the hospital. I don't own a house, but I figured it could affect my credit score so will start paying it with what I can at the time. Paying something is better than nothing.

What makes you think shes close to being bankrupt? How about an estate attorney?

Pretty sure debt racked up is shared debt in a marriage.

If he was on the deed, yes. You aren't liable for his bills but his estate is & the house is part of his estate.
