My now dh was married when we met. after knowing each other for a few months he told me he had feelings for me and that he was convinced that he was supposed to be with me and not his wife. We had never done anything, flirted, touched each other in any way. We were justgood friends

He asked me what he needed to do to have a chance with me.

I told him he needed to leave her, get divorced, and live on his own for at least a year before I would ever consider it

He did. During the year and a half after his divorce we remained friends but nothing more. We started taking it slow bit ever since things have been great. I know I will still get hate but I think we did it the best way we could. He didn't cheat on his ex wife and we took our time before forming our own relationship when we were both ready

He asked you an honest question.  You gave him the answer and he folllowed through.

There is no reason for hate here.

People in another post were calling me a trashy homewrecker. I couldnt tell if this was a popular opinion or not. Doesnt seem like it

Why did he start to stray from his first wife? I'm not blaming you because it sounds like you did everything right but there had to be a reason why he started falling for you instead of staying in love with the woman he married.
