Dh died and my step kids are living with me against BMs wishes.

DH was in a car crash about 2 months ago and he didnt make it. It has been a horrible time for me and all the kids. My kids are devastated including my step kids. After he died BM made them move back in with her. Instead of being there while they grieved she would say stuff like "well you are better off with him anyway" or to "get over it"

She made it hard for them to come over and see their siblings. They got fed up and one day showed up in the middle of the night. They are 16 and 17.

They legally get to decide where they want to live. I even went and had a free consultation with a lawyer to see if there was anything legally that could be do to me or them. I looked into seeing if they could get emancipated (There is no such thing as legal emancipation here in ON)

So they moved in. BM is of course pissed but I honestly couldnt careless. She should be there for her grieving children not telling them that their dad was a pos anyway and they shouldnt be sad.

I dont understand how any parent could do that.

I am not sure if they will stay here but they are welcome to for as long as they want.

If they really want to leave their mom, they can. I suggest they look into legal aid and maybe a counsellor in the courts. They can withdrawal from parental care.

This isnt an old post. I did have a post a couple months ago when my DH first died and one when I started having problems with BM when she wouldnt let my stepkids come over and see their siblings.
