my ds is 5 and asked for his ears pierced recently. i said not until he's older. dh's sister called us hypocrites because dh and i both have our ears pierced and we're getting our babies ears pierced after her first shots.....yeah no ds cant even wipe his butt properly, im not going to get his ears pierced. i had mine done when i was 5 and they ended up being surgically removed from my lobes. in 8 hours my skin grew over them. so hell no am i getting his done now when i cant monitor them constantly and i damn sure wont expect the teacher to keep an eye on them.

But your infant can lol?

Why not make both kids wait until they can take care of their own ears? It is hypocritical if you plan to pierce an infant but refuse to let an older child do it.

I have to agree with this. Im not against piercing a babys ears, but it should be the same rules across the board.
