Would you let your 4th grader babysit?

Your preschooler while you walked across the street to pick up a sibling? My DH doesn't want his daughter (6th grade) walking home from school.

The boys were playing together and the preschooler isn't feeling well. So I told my 4th grader that he could just stay home with him. But that they shouldn't cook, go outside, or let anyone in the house.

Would you do it?

I have been gone 6 minutes and expect to be gone probably another 5 or so.

Depends on the 4th grader and the preschooler. And the neighborhood.

Yeah. I let my 4th grader take my 1 and 6 year olds across the street to the park. I can see part of the park from my back pourch but not all of it.

Just in this instance if the little guy is sick then sure. Regular days no.

depends on the fourth grader. if your son is usually responsible then yes. I was left alone with my siblings at that age.

How do they usually get along? When we have my niece, my son tries to go parent mode on her. VERY annoying. I'd come back home to him getting frustrated at her and her crying bc he's telling her what to do.

But it seems crazy to me that a 6th grader can't cross the street alone.

Yes I would. My boys are very responsible when it comes to little ones. They've been around and helped take care of their cousins most of their lives.
