Not burping after breastfeeding?

A couple weeks ago I went to visit a friend and her then 1 week old son. I'm also 33 weeks pregnant with my own child (my first, her son is her first). While I was there she nursed her son, but never burped him. Is that something you don't need to do if you're breastfeeding? I thought it was always necessary.

Obviously I didn't say anything to her, he's not my son and it's not my business. I'm just asking for my own reference because I plan on breastfeeding my daughter.

I always burped after nursing, otherwise it might come back up.

Neither of my kids needed to be burp. They do not get as much air as bottle fed babies. My daughter burps on her own if she needs to.

I always try just to make sure there's no air in there. So far it's rarely needed, but I still do it.

It's not always necessary with breastfeeding. I had to burp my kiddos until my supply regulated, bc they would gulp it down really fast after my let down. Once my supply regulated I stopped getting burps out of them when I tried... So I just quit burping them. They never got uncomfortable and would just burp a little once in awhile after they finished(usually if they went too long btwn feeds and I had engorged).

I never was able to get my kids to burp after breastfeeding them. I tried, and tried....but rarely did they burp. If the latch is good, and baby is feeding well-no air will be swallowed. And no air needs to come up.

I never really had to burp my BF kiddos. DD would fall asleep every time and I'd pop her off and let her chill. :)
