im 38 weeks with my first, i told my dr i had been feeling pressure for a few days so she checked if i was dilated. it hurt to high heaven, so much so that i had to wait in the lobby for a good half an hour before walking to my car in the parking garage. my mom called me when i finally got to my car. she asked me how my appointment went and i said i couldnt even walk to my car it hurt so bad. she then went on this long rant about how labor is worse....yes...i realize this mother.....this hurt though just like it hurts when my ankle pops and i have to limp around the rest of the day. can nothing ever hurt because labor hurts worse?

geez...i can see why my dad left her......

Your mom had an epidural? How old is she?

You don't have to have cervical checks. They tell you nothing, often cause pain, and serve no real purpose. The only thing they really do is risk introducing bacteria into the vagina/cervix.
