**Update 11/3/16---well I ended up transferring $1000 on Halloween, he just now found out about it, demanded I put it back and stormed off when I told him no. He went tithe bank and withdrew the rest of the money so I couldn't touch anymore of it.
That's fine, I have what I need for the bills that need to be paid.
He's pissed there's so little left, but he had already withdrew money prior and spent a ton on stupid exercise equipment he's yet to use. I mean what did he expect, no bills to get paid?

So DH and I are on the rocks. I'm pretty sure this is the end. He makes a considerable amount more than me and gets paid once a month.

I found a note jotted down with a dollar amount and a time and I'm pretty sure it's for his lawyer. I am worried he'll wipe the account to pay for said lawyer and not bat an eye in regard to household budget.

I'm debating whether or not to transfer the $1000 I need for his share of the budget to an account only I have access to, to ensure things get paid. If I do this should I tell him before, or let him know after I've already done it? Last time I mentioned doing such a thing, he beat me to it and withdrew all but $5 from the account.

Edited for clarification: he gets paid on Monday the 31st so that's when I can do it

Do 1/2 of the balance. Joint account, that's standard.

Just go to the bank and take out all the money. Better yet, close the account.
