We are making new since all our kids are grown.

Usually Thanksgiving day is just dh and I. WE do the family thing when we can all be together. Our oldest son has a blended family so it doesnt always happen on Thanksgiving.

When I was little we used to go my grandmother's (dad's mom) house the Saturday after thanksgiving for the big family dinner. On thanksgiving day we had a smaller scale dinner at home with my mom's parents.

As an adult I don't live close to family, and I don't like the traditional thanksgiving comfort foods. They take forever to cook everything on my own for just the 5 of us, and I don't even like any of it. If I were close to family I'd enjoy it, but just us I hate cooking thanksgiving dinner.

I do most if not all of the cooking. Turkey (of course), green bean casserole, stuffing, hash brown casserole, gravy, some sort of veggie dish or corn pudding, 2-3 pies and veggie pizza (not real pizza but the kind with the cream cheese) appetizers.
