Would you live in one of these?

I am leaving my husband. I will be starting over at basics. I have one child, a small savings, and a mediocre paying job.

I saw these cabins... and I'm thinking of building one to be our house.

Would you do it?

Right now I live in a 5 bedroom house and I hate it! It's too big and it will be WAY too much for my child and I once we leave DH.

I was talking to them and it looks like I could have the caning move in ready on a piece of land here in our town with all necessary septic and electricity hookups etc for just under $25k.

I don't plan to have any more children in the near future. And if I do it would be with a husband, so a ways down the line anyway. I could sell, or rent, the cabin at that point IF I wanted to.

It would be a fresh start for the two of us.

BUT I'm iffy because it seems a lot could go wrong with housing that inexpensive. And I'm not sure how safe I'd feel with just the two of us there.

And it is SO small.

Pros:

I'd pay like $1000/mo in my area if I were renting a home. So in 2 years I could either waste enough in to buy a cabin or own my own home.
It could be done fairly quickly. I understand I could be moved in by next year.
I think it's "good enough" for my kid and I.
I could use it as a rental in the future.

Cons:
It's tiny.
It probably won't elver sell for much
I don't know how sturdy/safe it would be in extreme weather.
It may be an embarrassment to my child in the future.

Thoughts?

No. I would want more space to grow into. That will be hard to sell when and if you decide to.

You child will get older and want more privacy as well.

It's really cute. Honestly for a few years I could live in one of those

You will get at least half of what you make off selling your current home. That should make a good down payment on a new house to offset the cost.

I totally would!! I would love it! So cute and cozy and easy to clean... My husband and our four kids couldn't fit. But there was a time when it was just my two girls and I, and I almost bought one!

Temporarily, yes. Not long term.

Like I said, I know our family wouldn't grow IN this home. It would be temporary. Not that I would want another DH or more kids. I think I'm done there.

My kid will want more space. But in a few years I hope to be able to afford more.

With dh I would. Not with the kids. We lived in a super small mobile home when we got married. If we can live in thay we can live anywhere.

Well the two of us don't need or want much. But not really about the fad, it's about being able to live decently on next to nothing while I try to better things for us.
