I married an alcoholic

Hello group...this may be long. I have been married to my husband since 2009. We have a 7 year old boy that I totally adore! Last Saturday my husband took my son and my son's friend to an arcade in Asbury Park (we live in NJ)...well long story short but on the way home from the arcade he hit and run a car and was then pulled over for drunk driving. I could have lost my son! This is THE final straw for this horrible, horrible man! I went to my attorney today to file for divorce. Any additional suggestions or advice? Thank you in advance

Oh wow. Just follow your attorneys advice. Hopefully he will seek out treatment.

What did your sons friends parents say? Use them in your divorce if you have to. I wouldn't let my soon to be ex husband drive you children anywhere after that.

Yikes, I'm glad your son is ok. Listen to your lawyer and stay strong.

Make sure you get supervised visits for him, and that he can't drive your son anywhere.

Yeah right can you imagine how pissed those parents are?

That would be a deal breaker for me too.

Was he an alcoholic before the marriage?

If you knew he was an alcoholic, why did you allow him to take your kid unsupervised? How guilty would you have felt if something happened to them.
