I hate doctors and insurance companies!

My son(6) has a persistent cough. It is partially caused by allergies but his pediatrician and I suspect it is also partially asthma. So his doctor put in a referral for him to be tested. I called to make his appointment and the doctor he referred us to doesn't see kids. I called the insurance company to get it changed and the said I didn't need a referral for the testing and gave me another doctor's number. So I call them. They won't see him without a referral. It isn't needed for the test but it is to see a doctor and they won't do the test unless he does. Now I have to call his pediatrician back but their office is closed for the night. Urgh!

Be happy you have a doctor you can see at all.  I need to see a specialist and the closest one"in network" is more than 3 hours away.  I've been seeing the same doctor for 10 years but because I had to change health insurance plans last year due to the cost of shitty Obamacare, I have to see someone different.  And now I can't get in until February.

I would be happy if we could actually see a doctor... now we have to wait for a new referral and who knows how long for an appointment. I grateful there is one in the area but...

Check his mattress too. I have asthma but beds are sprayed with chemicals that have been linked to breathing issues.

Be happy you have insurance no matter how much of a pain in the ass it is.

I am immensely grateful I have insurance... just really really frustrated with them right now. Even more frustrated that his pediatrician gave him a referral to an adults only pulmonary specialist... I mean really?!
