A friend of mine came over and DD was in the living room, my friend turns on the tv and puts it on lifetime, Don't know if you ladies have seen lifetime lately but there is some pretty racy stuff at times. Anyways I told her we don't watch lifetime id DD is in the room, she laughed and said okay.

I headed into the kitchen to grab some snacks and drinks, I heard dd scream and being to cry. I go into the living room to see what was  going on.the TV was off. I asked DD what happened she said "momma the baby was on the floor! they hurt her mom, her toes and mouth!! , I'm sad for her"

I said WHAT?..What is she talking about??  my friend then tells me the Jonbenet case was on and DD got a glimpse of it. I was furious!! She said you cant censor her from the real world, so why censor what she watches?...WTF DD is 4!

Some people censor, some don't. The fact of the matter is that YOU are the mom, that is YOUR child, and you were in YOUR own home.

Your "friend" overstepped and needs to be put in her place. Your house, your kid, your rules.

I do censor what my sons watch. Some things they're not ready to understand properly and frankly, just because they can know that certain things happen, it doesn't mean the have to watch every gory or racy detail.
I would've told her "sex is part of the real world, do you let your kids watch porn?"

When your son picks up the term erotic asphyxiation from Family Guy and asks you what it means you understand some things should be censored. Thank you stupid ex for starting that. And even when i complained he still didn't care. I had lots of fights with my kids over my rules vs my ex's house rules. I also censored Breaking Bad when my laid back brother warned me he found it disturbing.

That friend wouldn't be any longer. Incredibly rude and presumptuous.

i was reading detective magazines when i was 8..and they had some pretty horrible cases..i watched the deliberate stranger about ted bundy when i was a kid..i think it depends on the kid..i mean,a 4 year old shouldnt watch fifty shades of grey but the jonbenet movie?its history so i dont think its a big deal..

Does your friend have kids?

It doesn't matter if she agrees with your choice or not.  It's your child and what you say goes.  It's not her duty to let your child know the harsh realities of the world.  Does she really think there won't be plenty of time later on for her to learn how awful people can be?  There's no reason she has to know now, especially learning from a dramatized LIfetime movie.
