It's required for them to go. The kids just found out today because the school won a game last night.

I'm not dropping everything else and driving two hours for pep band!

Just needed to vent.

I guess maybe you shouldn't have signed them up for band then? When I was in marching band we had all kinds of events happening that was contingent on winning a competition or football game...

If it is required they should be providing a bus. Not everyone can take time off work.

I don't blame you, there should be a bus for that.

The school doesn't provide transportation? My daughter is in honor band and her school busses the students to and from all events. I don't attend them all. I try, but it doesn't always work out.

They don't have a bus?  Can your kid go with someone else?

If it was last minute there probably wasn't time to get a bus (answering the people who think there's always a bus available at every school for band)

Why not find another parent who is able to go, offer to pay for half of the gas if they take your kids. We did that with all our last minute competitions and games. We only had buses for planned games and competitions.

Y'all parents need to complain to the band director and the principal, not us.
