How do you deal with them if they are over spending?

Do you start limiting their funds?

My dd is increasingly eating out more and it's very expensive.

Give her a set amount monthly on her debit card and when she spends it all before the end of the month, too bad.  She'll learn to budget eventually.

I'm agreeing with this.

When I went to college eating out was a $1 gyro.

I'm sure I spelled that wrong.

You have three options. Continue letting her spend freely, give her a set amount of money each month (whatever you feel is reasonable), or completely stop paying for her discretionary expenses.

When they were born their grandparents set up a 529 college savings fund

Give her a weekly allowance, and explain how it's enough for her to grocery shop and eat well, but not enough money to eat out every meal, every day.

The limited weekly amount will help her learn to budget.

She is in already in school and has an internship. I'd rather her focus on that right now. She does work on her breaks but that money doesn't last long
